Mini Gastric Bypass

It is a bariatric procedure which represents a technical simplification of the standard Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, requiring a single anastomosis, thus reducing also the operative time but preserving the efficacy on weight loss.
This procedure, performed laparoscopically, consists in creating a small tubular gastric pouch (restrictive effect) which is connected to the small bowel, which is bypassed for 150-200cm (malabsorbitive effect) determining weight loss.

Weight loss outcomes and remission of comorbidities are comparable to gastric bypass.

It is mandatory after this type of surgery the compliance to vitamin supplementation and to follow-up in order to avoid nutritional deficiencies.
